“Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important” Stephen R Covey

On Sunday a family day out was organised by the company as a way of showing appreciation. This was an inclusive event where everyone brought their children. There have been some new members to the team over the past year and we realise how important it is to make time for us all to bond and build our relationships. What better way to get to know each other than having fun and a good laugh.

Most of the team in Liberty Blue Estate Agents are parents like myself. In the office it’s very much hands on deck and all systems go from open to close. We all have commitments outside of work and most of us have to juggle school runs, parent teacher meetings, school events, dentist appointments and doctor appointments when they come up. We are very fortunate to have a culture which offers flexibility and understanding when a unplanned event pops up with our little ones.

It can be a challenge to organise team events outside of work because of our irrespective family commitments, there are always football matches, dances classes or babysitter challenges.

We talk about our children but we rarely have created the opportunity to get to know each other’s children.

The company decided a family day out in Winterval was definitely in order this year.

We were blessed with clear crisp dry weather and a blue sky.

First off, ice skating ( kids only of course). A fun hour for the kids. For us parents watching, there was a major sigh of relief that there were no falls or broken bones. Having witnessed two adults being assisted off the ice with possible fractures, you could bet that we were all relieved that our little darlings were all smiles and injury free.

Having worked up an appetite we headed to Emilanos Restaurant on High Street and enjoyed a fabulous lunch. The carousel was visited and then onto the Waterford Eye.

Sun had just set and we enjoyed stunning night time views of the city. It was definitely a great way to end of a fun filled day.

On reflection we spend most of our days with two sets of people, our colleagues and our families. Creating opportunities to bring both together can only bring good things and create stronger bonds.
