Tramore is a coastal town of around 11,000 people, situated 13 kilometres south of Waterford City. It combines a genuine seaside character with good schools, a strong range of shops and services, and direct transport links to the city. For many buyers, it offers the best of both worlds.
Local Market
Demand in Tramore is strong and supply of second-hand homes has remained tight. The median house price reached over €370,000 in 2025, with four-bedroom semis and detached homes between €400,000 and €500,000 representing the busiest part of the market. Several active new developments including Strandhill, Mountfield and White Waves are adding to the town’s housing stock.
Transportation
Bus Éireann routes 360 and 360A connect Tramore directly to Waterford City centre and SETU, with journeys taking around 20 minutes. For drivers, the town is a straightforward trip along well-maintained roads. The N25 also provides direct road access to Cork and Dublin, making Tramore a practical base for commuters travelling in either direction.
Education
Tramore has its own primary schools, including Holy Cross National School and Glór Na Mara, and secondary education is provided by Tramore Community School and Ardscoil na Mara. For third-level study, South East Technological University (SETU) is around 20 minutes away in Waterford City, making the town a practical base for students and academic staff.
Amenities
Tramore’s five-kilometre Blue Flag beach is the town’s centrepiece, noted for surfing, kitesurfing and other water sports, alongside the long-standing Waterford and Tramore Racecourse. For everyday needs, the town has several supermarkets including SuperValu, Tesco and Aldi, and a good range of cafes, restaurants and independent shops throughout the town centre.
