June marked the end of the second quarter of 2026, with the Waterford property market continuing to perform steadily.
According to Daft’s Q2 report, the latest figures show that there were 13,118 second-hand homes for sale nationwide on 1st June, an increase of 6% compared with the same time last year. While this is an encouraging sign that more homes are coming to the market, overall supply remains well below historic levels—around 50% lower than the average seen between 2015 and 2019. This highlights that, although stock levels may be gradually improving. Housing supply continues to be one of the key challenges facing the Irish property market. Regina recently joined Claire Brock and Pete the Builder on RTÉ One’s Drivetime to discuss the changing market for doer-upper homes.
The conversation explored how rising renovation costs, a shortage of tradespeople, and increased buyer supports for new homes are influencing purchasing decisions. From a Waterford perspective, Regina highlighted the continued demand for turnkey properties, while noting that well-priced renovation projects can still offer excellent opportunities for buyers willing to take them on.
